5 Marks of a Warrior Woman ~ Get battle ready!

Do you know what a Christian woman needs to be in these last days? Battle ready, (among other things), because there is a war for souls being waged between God and Satan and every Christian is a warrior for the Lord. There are five marks of a warrior woman for God. Character qualities needed to get battle-ready. We’ll get to those, but first, we need to realize we are in a battle and recognize our true enemy.

Know Your True Enemy to Become a Warrior Woman for God

John 10:10 KJV ~ The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Deceiver, Destroyer, Devil, Accuser, Adversary… he has many names and wears many masks. He uses several devices to distract, discourage, and destroy women of faith.

Satan attempts to keep our minds occupied with pursuits, passions, and pleasures that waste time, leaving no room for fellowship with Jesus and pursuing His will for our lives. He tempts us to fill our schedules with all the things. He lies to us constantly, telling us we need to do more, be more, have more. Then we get overwhelmed, overworked, and become stressed-out servants who take out our frustrations on those around us.

If there’s contention, chaos, and confusion, you can bet that the enemy is at work!

Satan relishes in ruining relationships. That downhill trend starts when we take our eyes off Jesus. When we stop abiding in Christ and start chasing after the world, the flesh, and the devil, we’re more vulnerable to spiritual attack.

See him and stand against the devil’s schemes

To become a warrior woman for the Lord, we have to see our real enemy and take a stand against his schemes. We must do the exact opposite of whatever it is he is tempting us with or desiring us to do. Stop and ask yourself what his agenda is with whatever adversity you are facing at the moment. Then ask for the Spirit’s power to resist that temptation and do things God’s way instead.

For example, if someone is rude to you or rejects you, the father of lies will whisper in your ear that it’s because you are worthless. He will remind you of all the times you have been rejected to build his case against you. His goal is to destroy you, always. He wants you focused inward, having a pity party, withdrawing, isolating yourself to avoid the risk of rejection again.

Instead, think of what God is trying to teach you in that moment. See it as an opportunity to draw near to Christ, the only One who will never leave you, forsake you, or reject you. He was despised and rejected and knows exactly how you feel. By His grace, when you cover the offense in love, cleave to your Savior, and cultivate security in Him, you can grow through those tough times.

Worship the Lord, don’t wallow in that. Pray for the person who hurt you, don’t put them down. Guard your heart. Don’t give the enemy the satisfaction of discouraging you.

Practicing that continually helps develop our faith muscles and strengthens our resolve against the devil. The more we do things God’s way, the more our minds are renewed and the more dangerous we become to the enemy.

5 Marks of a Warrior Woman

The first thing I see in the morning is a sign on my bedroom wall that says “Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says “Oh no, she’s up!“.

Most days, I don’t feel like a threat to the enemy. But I want to be!

When I think of a warrior woman, Wonder Woman comes to mind. She defeats the bad guys and looks amazing doing it. But warrior women for God don’t need that outward beauty or physical weapons. Our power comes from within.

There are five key characteristics of a Christian woman who is prepared for spiritual attacks.

A Warrior Woman for the Lord is:

  1. Strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Ephesians 6:10 KJV – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
  2. Sober and vigilant as the devil walks about as a roaring lion. 1 Peter 5:8 KJV – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
  3. Submissive to God, resisting the devil. James 4:7 KJV – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  4. Spiritfilled, not fearful or fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV – For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
  5. Standing in her armor against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 KJV – Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

We need to teach women to be warriors. Not worriers or wimps, but strong and stable women who are mission-minded and battle-ready. The most valuable lesson is how to abide in Christ because it is in communion with Christ that we learn how to be and do everything, including how to be wise women for the glory of God.

Discipleship Develops Warrior Women for God

We can equip women to be virtuous warriors by instructing them on these five marks of a warrior woman through Titus 2 discipleship. Younger women in the faith learn from the older how to wear their armor and wield their weapons. They learn how to fight for their loved ones on their knees in prayer, how to flee youthful lusts and follow Jesus through the fiery trials of life.

The older women teach the younger women to be virtuous warrior women.

Believers have a vicious enemy, but he’s no match for a strong, Spirit-filled, sober-minded woman. She is tried and tested, proven faithful, and loyal to the end. A mighty warrior for the glory of the Lord.

Cultivate the Characteristics of a Warrior Woman

If you desire to be strong in the Lord, a wise warrior who resists the devil, then you must be faithful to be in fellowship with Jesus in the word and prayer. That is how you put on your armor and stand strong against the wiles of the devil.

Rely on Jesus, the ultimate Victor, and His strength. He is your shield, your help, your defender, and your deliverer. And before too long, He will give Satan his due!

1 John 4:4 KJV ~ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

  1. God is calling us as women to be about His business, but now that so many women have to work outside the home, it can be the last thing on a woman/mom/sister/wife’s mind! God bless us as women to be able to go to God first, and let God handle the rest of our lives. Amen.
