My family and I have a unique habit when we’re trying to find the ever-elusive close parking spot on our shopping adventures. We keep our eyes peeled for “the fog”. An acronym for the favor of God, the fog is something we are intentional to look for. Every time we get a spot near the entrance, (which is almost every time), we thank Jesus for the fog.
The kids love it and are blown away by how God answers our prayers over and over again.
Why I look for the fog
I love looking for the fog for two reasons:
- It makes me intentional in all areas of my life to see the undeserved favor of God (grace).
- I’m training my children and myself to automatically give God the glory he so rightfully deserves for the blessings he provides.
It’s so easy to take things for granted, but when I pause to praise God for anticipating and meeting our needs, I cultivate a heart of gratitude.
Psalm 100:4~ Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
What’s your fog?
The fog can be a parking spot, a good deal, a surprise check, or any number of gifts from God. Did you find a great house, make a new friend, or receive healing? Maybe you discussed the finances without arguing with your spouse, or got a good night’s sleep. Those are all examples of the favor of God.
We pray diligently for that favor in every area of our lives. Not just for our own sake, but for our children, and the lost world to see the goodness of God as he actively moves on our behalf. Click To Tweet
The best fog ever
The most phenomenal favor of god I ever received was when Jesus forgave all my sin. He wiped my slate completely clean and made me a new creature for his glory. I didn’t deserve it then, or now, but that’s the beauty of grace. Jesus saved me based on his character and sacrifice, not of my own merit.
I’ll go to my grave eternally grateful for the salvation of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
