They say that teaching is the ministry of reminding. I think one reason God gave me that ministry is because He knows how forgetful I am myself. I need those reminders just as much as anyone else.
Case in point, I wrote an article in August of last year about how God was encouraging me to endure hardness and fulfill my ministry. I resolved to be more diligent and consistent in this writing ministry at the start of the new year. Yet here I am, still struggling to get back on the writing wagon.
Can you relate? Well, if you’re still breathing, there’s still time to see those resolutions become reality. You just need to do a little remembering…
5 Things to Remember to Turn Your Resolutions Into Reality
- Who you are
- Whose you are
- What He said
- Your Why
- How
Remember Who You Are
Whenever I’m struggling in the obedience department, the Lord takes me back to the moment I surrendered my life to Jesus. I told Him I had wasted my life, and I wanted the rest of my days to be spent glorifying Him.
In order to see my resolutions become reality, I have to remember that I am a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. My life is not my own, it belongs entirely to Him.
Not only that, but when I remember I am a child of the Most High God, a daughter of the King, it stirs up my sense of duty and devotion.
When you forget to follow through on the convictions the Lord has placed on your heart, make a list of who you are in Christ. You’ll soon find your heart desiring to accomplish the mission of God and fulfill the ministry God has given you.
Be a faithful steward
If you want to turn your resolutions into reality, whether that’s to get healthy, save money, or improve relationships, remember that you are a Christian. And with that identity comes responsibility.
You’re a steward of the gospel, a minister of truth, a representative of Christ. And you have a ministry of reconciliation to fulfill. Live according to the word of God, be strong in Him, represent Him well, and be faithful.
1Corinthians 4:2 KJV ~ Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Remember Whose You Are
Satan would love for you to cower under a cloud of condemnation for your choices. But don’t, because the God you belong to is merciful. He knows you and loves you. He is the God of second chances, and with Him is forgiveness and a fresh start. Hallelujah, praise the Lord!
When you remember you are in the hands of the Creator and Sustainer of all things, your focus shifts from selfish endeavors to grateful service. Since you are His, you can complete the tasks He gives you with confidence in His presence and protection along the way.
Psalm 28:7 KJV ~ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Remember What He Said
James 1:22 KJV ~ But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
I’m reminded of the resolutions the Lord has given me as I look back through my prayer journals, devotions, and sermon notes. I want to make those resolutions a reality. But sometimes the busyness of life, the needs of the ministry, and the distractions of the world hinder that.
When I remember what God has said about the purpose of my life, and the plans He has for me, I get back on the right path to make those resolutions a reality.
I like to go back and read the articles I’ve written on having the proper perspective, being committed, focused, and enduring through the trials of life. God gave me those to bless other women with, but also to remind me of the truths I need to apply continually.
Remembering what He said helps fuel my fire for His kingdom and glory.
Remember Your Why
A stressful schedule can lead to burnout pretty quickly. It’s easy to forget why we were created, why we minister, and why we persevere- to glorify God. When we lose our why, we get off track and fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
To get my focus back on writing, I had to remember why God laid this ministry on my heart. I had to recall what He wanted to accomplish through it. Daily His Disciple was born out of a desire to use the spiritual gifts God has given me to glorify Him and edify the body of Christ.
My ministry is to encourage women to know the word of God, exhort them to live it out, and equip them to invest it. I want to help women walk in the wisdom of God’s word daily.
What about you? What’s your why? Pray about it, write it out, and keep it as a visual reminder of the purpose of your commitment to your convictions. Be faithful and follow through with what God has entrusted you with until He tells you to stop.
Remember How
As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you have the indwelling power and presence of the Holy Spirit of the Living God. Through Him, you can do all things! God equips you with everything you need to accomplish His will for your life.
The resolutions He pressed upon your heart are doable. It may not be easy, but it’s possible. You can turn those resolutions into reality. Pray for the Lord’s help to obey Him. He will always give you a way to resist temptation and take heed to His commands.
- Repent of any sin.
- Resolve to take action.
- Resist the pull of the world, the flesh, and the devil.
- Reach out for help through prayer and accountability partners.
- Remove the roadblocks that hinder your obedience.
- Read and recite the scriptures that empower and equip you.
- Refuse to settle for less than God’s best for your life.

We have to remember who we are, whose we are, what He said, our why, and how to turn those resolutions into reality.
Whatever the Lord requires of you will be for your good and His glory, and surrendered to His will is a blessed place to be!

So true!!
All very true and good tips! I’ve integrated them in my new habit plan this year as well. My “why” includes being the person I want to be, the person God says I am, and to inspire others.
That’s awesome!! My why is because the Lord called me to it and I want to please Him because I love Him SO much! And I love the people He’s given me to minister to.
Thank you for reading and commenting, I appreciate ya!
This is so necessary. It’s important to keep the ultimate focus on Christ. We can’t truly do anything or be anything without keeping the Lord Jesus as our focus! Amen!
Amen!! 🙌🏼
