There are a few keys to spiritual growth, like church attendance, discipleship, and serving the Lord. But you can do all those things and still not grow in Christ-likeness if you leave out one essential element- Bible reading. Learning and applying the word of God is necessary if you want to grow in faith, character, and wisdom. Here are some of my favorite scriptures for spiritual growth.
Memorizing and meditating on these Bible verses will renew your mind and transform your life!
10 Scriptures to Memorize for Spiritual Growth (KJV)
- John 15:4
- Romans 12:1-2
- 1Corinthians 6:19-20
- Galatians 5:16
- Ephesians 2:10

John 15:4 KJV – Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Romans 12:1-2 KJV – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV – What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Galatians 5:16 KJV – This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Ephesians 2:10 KJV – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Philippians 1:6 KJV – Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Colossians 3:16 KJV – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1Thessalonians 4:1 KJV – Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
A Simple Prayer for Spiritual Growth
Besides memorizing scriptures for spiritual growth, praying helps us mature in Christ as we look to the Lord for help. That prayer could go something like this:
Father God, thank you for saving me and setting me apart from this world for your glory. I want to please you and walk in your ways, but I can’t do it alone. I need you, Lord. Help me to be who you saved me to be, go where you say to go, and speak what you tell me to speak with boldness. Fill me with your Spirit, and filter my thoughts with your word, so I can shine bright for you today. Grow my faith, character, wisdom, and love. Mold me into a minister like Jesus. It’s in His precious name I pray, Amen.
The entire Bible is full of wisdom, and there are tons of other verses you could memorize and meditate on to become more like Jesus. These scriptures for spiritual growth will get you started on that journey.
