3 Ways to Get More Peace in Your Life

Do you need more peace in your life? Who doesn’t, right? The tension-filled times we live in can certainly drain our supply of serenity. There are many ways to get more peace in your life as a Christian woman. Prayer, reading the bible, and praise music are just a few. Those are the three ways to get more peace in your life that we’ll cover in this post.

Three ways to get more peace in your life:

  1. Pray
  2. Proclaim truth
  3. Praise the Lord

The Bible is full of God’s promises to provide for us spiritually and materially, to never forsake us, to give us peace in times of difficult circumstances, to cause all circumstances to work together for our good, and finally to bring us safely home to glory. Not one of those promises is dependent upon our performance. They are all dependent on the grace of God given to us through Jesus Christ. ~ Jerry Bridges

Prayer brings more peace in your life

God wants prayer to be our first instinct in times of trouble, not an afterthought. James 4:2 tells us “ye have not, because ye ask not”, so maybe we’re lacking in peace because we’re not praying for it.

1Thessalonians 5:17 says to pray without ceasing.  That verse is only three little words, but it informs us of our duty to lift our cares to the Lord continually, diligently, and faithfully. When we pray about our problems, instead of worrying about them, God gives us His peace in exchange for our anxiety.

Prayer moves us out of self-sufficiency into dependency on God alone to bring peace in the storms of this life. It invites the Lord into our daily drama. So if you want to get more peace in your life, then you must be a woman of prayer!

Philippians 4:6-7 KJV ~ Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A simple prayer for more peace in your life

Father in Heaven, thank you for your abundant grace and mercy. You are good and do all things well. I am choosing to trust you despite the chaos and craziness of my circumstances. You know it all, see it all, hear it all, and are currently at work in each and every one. You are on the throne, sovereign and sufficient to meet all my needs. As the Source for everything, I ask for a fresh supply of your perfect peace in exchange for these burdens I’m carrying. Thank you, Lord, for your love, and the truth in your word that renews my mind and revives my heart. I ask all of this in the precious name of Christ, my King, Amen.

Walk in the Spirit for more peace in your life

If we want more peace in our lives, we have to practice walking in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and is the Spirit of truth (John 14:16-17; 15:26). He helps to calm the storm of emotion within us, even if our circumstances continue to be chaotic.

The Holy Spirit teaches us all things and brings the scriptures back to our remembrance exactly when we need it (John 14:26-27). Peace is the fruit of His presence and power within us (Galatians 5:22-23),so when we’re walking in step with the Spirit, we experience that stillness and serenity we crave.

If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed.  If you look within, you’ll be depressed.  But if you look at CHRIST, you’ll be at rest. ~ Corrie ten Boom

Ways to get more peace

Proclaim truth for more peace in your life

Women are often busy with the many roles they have in life. Usually, they are the ones who do most of the household chores, take care of their children, work outside of home and also take care of everyone else’s needs. It’s natural for us to get anxious and agitated with all the noise, but we can be calm in the chaos when we pray, and we proclaim truth.

The reason proclaiming truth is a way to get more peace in your life is because it counters the lies Satan wants you to believe. Lies that can cause inner turmoil, irritation, and instability, like:

  • Things will never change
  • That person will never change
  • This is out of control
  • It is hopeless
  • I am helpless
  • I’m not doing enough
  • I am a failure

Being sober-minded brings peace

When you identify the lies you are believing that are causing you to lose your peace, then you need to counter those lies with truth, and exercise a sober mind. A sober mind is a disciplined, sound mind that isn’t carried away with imaginations.

An unsober mind runs constantly with what-if’s, worries, and woes, causing anxiety and emotional instability. Cast down imaginations and think on truth, and then proclaim truth in those stressful situations. You will feel the tension dissipate and peace will flood your mind.

The bible gives soundness, strength, and security that helps you stay focused on Christ and His word instead of being burdened by all the things around you.

Memorizing and meditating on the scriptures is a great way to cultivate peace and rest for your weary mind.

Isaiah 26:3 KJV – Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Praise the Lord for more peace in your life

Listening to praise music is another way to feel at peace because it helps you focus on Christ instead of the stressors that come with everyday life. One thing that steals our peace is taking in all of the confusion and chaos of crisis situations around the world. The news if full of burdensome stories. So if you tend to worry about all that’s going wrong in our world, I suggest trading that news time for some praise time.

Some days it may feel impossible to find peace in the chaos of life.  But we don’t have to be a victim of our circumstances or a slave to our emotions. We have the power to cultivate and maintain peace of mind. There are tools available to us, we just have to use them!

You may feel uncertain and unstable during these difficult times, but Jesus is right there with you. Lean on Him, and remember to pray, proclaim truth, and praise Him despite your afflictions. Lasting peace is found in Jesus Christ. He has defeated death, paid the penalty for your sins, and He is on the throne. Jesus is well able to work things out for good, so praise Him, because He is worthy.

Praising the Lord brings joy to the heart and reminds us of the awesomeness of God.

Colossians 3:15 KJV ~ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Get your peace back today

No matter what is stealing your peace today, you can get it back by praying, proclaiming truth, and praising the Lord. Let go of the things you can’t control, the people you can’t change, and the situations that stress you out. Allow Jesus to restore your peace, renew your mind, and refresh your spirit.

Nothing is too hard for God. He sees it all, knows it all, hears it all, and has the power to change it all. You have no reason to fear or fret, God’s got this! So lay it all at His feet, seek His face, and rest in His sufficiency. Go in peace, today!

I designed and published a tool to help Christian women to know Jesus more intimately, which is one of the ways to have more peace in your life. My Jesus Journal focuses your time in the word on learning more about the Lord and cultivate a closer relationship with Christ.

Intended to be used alongside your daily Bible reading, My Jesus Journal has space to record the date, the scriptures you read, and lined spaces to write your observations about Jesus you saw in the text. The bottom of that page has a verse from the KJV Bible about Jesus. The next page has space to write prayers related to what you discovered in your reading. There are also extra prayer pages in the back of the book.

Mark 12:30 tells us to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, but we cannot love someone we do not know.
